I hate that I went into IT instead of CS

JUMALATION1 28/08/2021 - 20:24

I have a weird limbo degree. I'm an engineer in information & media technology. I can code a tiny bit, I am very good at photo and video editing, I can handle studio equipment (filming/broadcasting live) etc to some extent, I know how to gain likes on social media for a company and I am not terrible at writing. This "jack of all trades" situation has made it difficult for me to find jobs since I want to do all of this at once and only a few companies can offer jobs like that 😀

Hamza N 28/08/2021 - 20:24

Please do a video on Artificial Intelligence Degrees.

Network admins make more than general IT personal

They learn the same stuff but Network admins are more specialized and have a higher focus on security and management.

nasean taylor 28/08/2021 - 20:24

Marco Nipun 28/08/2021 - 20:24

SMS 28/08/2021 - 20:24

Gitter Mnd 28/08/2021 - 20:24

Were is data science degree, and dont say its not available, bc it is in certain schools

Maxtreme 28/08/2021 - 20:24

I disagree with the cyber security tier ranking in this list.
Here in Australia which is different from America but I presume it would be similar, pretty much all cyber security courses usually do not land graduates entry level jobs in security roles, as cyber security jobs are usually a more senior position. I would put I.T. above cyber security, although it depends on what you major in I.T.
Anything like web development, database etc I think is pretty employable,
although if you were to major in cyber security with your I.T. degree, once again I think you would have a hard time finding an entry level security job despite the huge demand for security professionals which unfortunately usually are all senior positions.
Let me know if anyone disagrees with this statement

Maxtreme 28/08/2021 - 20:24

What about software engineering?
Or does that technically fall under the engineering category,
however you did include telecommunications that falls under bachelor of arts so I don't see why this would not be included.

Ahmad Rifki 28/08/2021 - 20:24

But what about computer engineering? Is it quite viable?

Giant Of Karelia 28/08/2021 - 20:24

Getting that one internship, let alone an entry level job in Cybersecurity is *incredibly hard*, at least in Europe. I went to a trainee interview, having already worked as an engineer associate and they basically fucked with me the whole hour. I took a four hour train trip there, at least they could've been polite.

Miyake Emiko 28/08/2021 - 20:24

I might go for a computing degree. any advice haha

Valentine Eze 28/08/2021 - 20:24

Hello Shane. What's your take on Doctorate in Social works (Clinical) Vs Doctorate in Clinical psychology Vs Nurse practitioner in terms of pay, career growth rate and others

Naman Shah 28/08/2021 - 20:24

Jeffrey Maniebo 28/08/2021 - 20:24

Kevin 28/08/2021 - 20:24

I know IT is a little broad , but I am concentrated in System Admin and Cybersecurity. Real quick, what tier would you put that in?

manny erick 28/08/2021 - 20:24

What’s the difference between a degree that says computer information systems and one that just says information systems??

Caterina Del Galles 28/08/2021 - 20:24

I am a female with little computing skills. I have poor math skills too. I need to retrain as my job is null and void due to Brexit. What computing degree could I do that is useful and pays fairly well? Thank you!

Jon Everett 28/08/2021 - 20:24

Is IT C tier because you can get stuck in a support job? Other than that there are tons of jobs with decent pay

Mo Safi 28/08/2021 - 20:24

Is computer and information science good?

Ruhul Amin 28/08/2021 - 20:24

I don't mind your longer videos. I like the stats. I just always listen on 2x speed lol. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Thu 28/08/2021 - 20:24

I’m so stressed over whether I should stay in IT or switch to computer science 🙂 I still don’t know much but the computer science field allows you to be creative, while IT isn’t exactly like that for me…. i’ve only taken 2 IT classes though. currently questioning my existence.

MastermindRell 28/08/2021 - 20:24

the fact you used the mk tier list chart
has me sold

SAEED Alaidarous 28/08/2021 - 20:24

Emin Gani 28/08/2021 - 20:24

When biotech is never mentioned

Jess R 28/08/2021 - 20:24

I'm a Computer Information Systems major with a minor in Cyber Security Management. All I can say is it feels like I'm in a constant tug of war match between the Computer Science and Business departments at my university

Sasha Rae V 28/08/2021 - 20:24

Please cover cyber security.

Christian O’Mizzle 28/08/2021 - 20:24
